Martin Gareis
Martin Siegfried Harald Gareis was a German general during World War II who held commands at the divisional, corps and army levels. He was a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross of National Socialist Germany. His oldest son, Leutnant zur See Klaus Gareis, was KIA on 15 September 1942 when the German submarine U-261, on which he served, was sunk.
