Marion County, Iowa
Marion County is a county in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2020 census, the population was 33,414. The county seat is Knoxville. It is named for Francis Marion, a brigadier general from South Carolina in the American Revolutionary War.

As of the 2020 census, the county had a population of 33,414 and a population density of. The median age was 41.1 years; 23.3% of residents were under age 18 and 19.6% were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 98.8 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over there were 97.2 males.The racial makeup of the county was 93.2% White, 0.9% Black or African American, 0.2% American Indian and Alaska Native, 1.2% Asian, 0.1% Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander, 0.6% from some other race, and 3.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino residents of any race comprised 2.1% of the population.

There were 13,145 households in the county, of which 29.4% had children under the age of 18 living in them. Of all households, 55.6% were married-couple households, 17.0% were households with a male householder and no spouse or partner present, and 21.8% were households with a female householder and no spouse or partner present. About 27.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
The 2020 census counted 14,073 housing units, of which 13,145 were occupied, leaving 6.6% vacant; 74.6% of occupied housing units were owner-occupied and 25.4% were renter-occupied, with a homeowner vacancy rate of 1.4% and a rental vacancy rate of 5.4%.

The racial makeup of the county was 97.46% White, 0.42% Black or African American, 0.19% Native American, 1.03% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.22% from other races, and 0.64% from two or more races. 0.80% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.There were 12,017 households, out of which 33.00% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.20% were married couples living together, 6.90% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.00% were non-families. 25.60% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.90% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.50 and the average family size was 3.02.
