Makran Division
Makran Division is an administrative division of Balochistan Province, Pakistan. It is located in southern Balochistan along the Gulf of Oman coast. CNIC Code of Makran Division is 52.
History
On 3 October 1952, the former princely state of Makran under the British Raj joined Pakistan and merged with three other states to form the Baluchistan States Union.On 14 October 1955, after the dissolution of the Baluchistan States Union, Makran was given the status of a district of Kalat Division of Balochistan province.
In 1958, Gwadar town was brought from Oman, included in Makran District and constituted a tehsil.
On 1 July 1970, Makran was established as a division of Balochistan Province by the bifurcation of Kalat Division, with the three tehsils of Makran district: Turbat, Panjgur and Gwadar being upgraded to district status.
