Makhdumpur is a town in the Bihar state of India. It is a major town of Jehanabad district and Patna-Gaya Corridor. The Barabar Hills/Barabar Caves tourist region is 10 KM South-East of Makhdumpur proper city.

Geography
Makhdumpur is situated between Gaya and Jehanabad in the Jehanabad district. It is about 60 km towards south from Patna and 30 km towards north from Gaya.Makhdumpur is situated on the bank of Jamuna. Jamuna river is the backbone for agriculture in this region.
Dardha river also flows through this area about 4 km west from the main town.
Barabar Caves/Barabar Hills is the most visited places of Makhdumpur region or Jehanabad District. Barabar Caves is one of the major tourist attraction of Bihar. It is 11 km towards south-East from the main town.
There are many man-made caves in this hilly region which built by the kings of Maurya empire.Lomas Rishi Cave/Satgharva Cave is the most famous cave of the Barabar Caves.The Barabar Hill Caves are the oldest surviving rock-cut caves in India, dating from the Maurya Empire.
