Luther Greene
Luther Greene was an American theatrical producer and landscaper. He was also active in landscaping business and designed rooftop gardens countrywide.
Personal life
He was born in Virginia and received his education the University of Virginia.He married an actress, Judith Anderson in July 1946 and divorced in 1951.
Career
Greene started his career as a producer with a play, Ghosts, starring, Alla Nazimova.Between around 1959 and 1987, Luther Greene, who lived and had a workshop and garden at a ground apartment at 444 East 58th Street. The apartment was featured at Architectural Digest in November 1979, where it was described as "... a shell grotto quite worthy of eighteenth-century Bayreuth or nineteenth-century Bavaria" and the article finishes with "... remarkable underground New York apartment. The wonders will no doubt continue."
In June 1987, he died at the age of 78.
