Luis Proto Barbosa


Luis Proto Barbosa, also known as Poto Barboz, was an Indian politician and physician who served as the third Chief Minister of Goa from April to December 1990. Barbosa was a member of the Indian National Congress. He played a significant role in the historic Goa Opinion Poll of 1967. He was one of the members elected to the first legislative assembly of Goa, Daman and Diu.
Barbosa headed a coalition government of 6 Congress defectors by joining in a coalition with the much larger 18 member Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party.

Legacy

A road in Arossim was named after him.
