Ludwik Dutkiewicz


Ludwik Dutkiewicz was an Australian artist born in Poland. He was born in Stara Sil, Ukraine on 2 February 1921. He won the 1953 and 1954 Cornell Prize.

Career

Dutkiewicz was appointed as botanical illustrator to the Adelaide Botanic Gardens in 1953. He illustrated numerous botanical books including as a contributing illustrator to Flora of Australia.

Dutkiewicz's works are held in the collections of the Art Gallery of South Australia ; the Australian Centre for the Moving Image ; the Newcastle [Art Gallery] ; the State Library of South Australia ; the Heide [Museum of Modern Art] ; the
National Film and Sound Archive, 1962, Director; Time In Summer, 1968, Director; and Transfiguration ; Flinders [University Museum of Art] ; and the
South Australian Society of Arts .

Exhibitions

His work has been exhibited at the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art, Flinders University Museum of Art, the Royal SA Society of Arts Gallery, and the Toorak Art Gallery.

Awards

He won the Cornell Prize in 1953, and 1954.
