Liza Black


Liza Elizabeth Black is an American historian and scholar of Native American studies. She is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation. Black is a Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Los Angeles and an assistant professor of History and Native American and Indigenous Studies at Indiana University.
Black is also an author, writer and commentator.

Education

Black earned her PhD in history from the University of Washington. She defended her dissertation, Looking at Indians: American Indians in movies, 1941–1960, in 1999.
