Sugar Factories, commonly abbreviated as PG partikulir and state-owned in Indonesia began to emerge after the start of the era of liberalism during the Dutch East Indies colonial period, with the introduction of Land Lease Rights for use for 70 years. Previously, a number of simple sugar factories had been established to process the sugar cane harvest, which was included in the commodities included in the Cultuurstelsel program.
