Libomyšl


Libomyšl is a municipality and village in Beroun District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 700 inhabitants.

Administrative division

Libomyšl consists of two municipal parts :
  • Libomyšl
  • Želkovice

Etymology

The name is derived from the personal name Libomysl, meaning "Libomysl's ".

Geography

Libomyšl is located about southwest of Beroun and southwest of Prague. It lies in the Hořovice Uplands. The highest point is at above sea level. The Litavka River flows through the municipality.

History

The first written mention of Libomyšl is from 1370.

Transport

Libomyšl is located on the railway line Beroun–Strakonice.

Sights

Libomyšl is poor in monuments. In the centre of the village is a chapel from the end of the 18th century and a cross from 1907.
