Lee Abrahmsen is an Australian Swedish operatic soprano based in Australia.
Life and work
Soprano Lee Abrahmsen is hailed by critics as 'Melbourne's Favourite Soprano' and has established herself as one of Australia's most sought-after artists in opera and on the concert platform. She started her opera career singing a range of roles in the lyric soprano repertoire for Opera Australia, Melbourne Opera and Victorian Opera including; Mozart's La Contessa, Verdi's Violetta, Puccini's Cio-Cio San, Mimi, Strauss' Adele, Mozart's Konstanze, and Donna Anna.In recent years, Abrahmsen has a developed the reputation as a leading Wagner, Puccini and Verdi singer, having sung all major roles in recent years. Her Wagner roles have included Elisabeth, Senta, Isolde, Eva, Freia, Sieglinde, Brünnhilde ; Puccini - Title in Tosca; Mimi, Title in Manon Lescaut, Cio Cio San. and Verdi Amelia, Violetta, Desdemona.
She has been nominated for Greenroom Awards for best performer in a lead role for Isolde, Marschallin, Brὓnnhilde, Senta and Valencienne.
Abrahmsen has performed as soloist and principal artist with Opera Australia, Opera Queensland, Melbourne Symphony, Sydney Symphony, Queensland Symphony,,,, Geelong Symphony, Iopera, Edinburgh Festival and Academy of St Martin in the Fields.
Abrahmsen is married to Australian oboist, Arts Manager and instrumental teacher Stephen Moschner and is a mother to a son.
