The album was recorded at Kingsway Studios, in New Orleans, and was produced by Nick Sansano.Critical reception
Exclaim! wrote that the band "revitalise funk with such passionate playing that they invoke the genre's classic glory days of yesteryear." CMJ New Music Report deemed the album "addictive swamp funk and soul."
