The constituency encompasses Daulatpur Upazila.

History

The constituency was created for the first general elections in newly independent Bangladesh, held in 1973.

Ahsanul Haq Mollah died in December 2003. Bachhu Mollah, his son, was elected in a March 2004 by-election.
