Kristján Arason


Kristján Arason is a former member of Icelandic national handball team. He is the husband of Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir, a well-known figure in Icelandic politics. He ranked fourth in IHF's list of the world's best handball players in the year 1989. He won the Icelandic championship with Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar as a coach in 2011.

Basketball

Before fully focusing on handball, Kristján played various other sports, including basketball. He was a member of the Iceland junior national basketball teams and won the 2. deild karla with Haukar in 1981.
