Jombang Regency

Jombang Regency is a regency of East Java, Indonesia, situated to the southwest of Surabaya. The capital of the regency is the town of Jombang. The regency has an area of 1,159.50 km² and a population of 1,202,407 at the 2010 census and 1,318,062 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as of mid-2024 was 1,378,005. It became a regency in 1910. It was the birthplace of Abdurrahman Wahid, the 4th president of Indonesia.

The five last-mentioned districts in the table constitute the folded limestone hilly region in the north, separated from the rest of the regency by the Brantas River. The rest of the regency to the south of the river is more low-lying and constitutes good agricultural land, although the south-east corner is more mountainous.
