Jet Express


Jet Express was an airline based in Libreville, Gabon. It operated a domestic schedule linking the major towns of Gabon with regional services to neighbouring countries in West Africa. Its main base was Libreville International Airport. In 2007, it established a secondary hub for charter operations at O. R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.
The airline ceased operations on 30 December 2008.

History

The airline was established in 1989 as Avirex Gabon and was owned by Philippe Salles, its President and CEO. In 2007, the airline was renamed "Jet Express." During this period, it operated mostly charters and provided wet lease and dry lease aircraft to airlines based in Johannesburg.
In July 2008, Jet Express was placed on the list of air carriers banned in the European Union along with all other Gabonese carriers due to safety oversight concerns in the country.
