Jason Reding Quiñones
Jason Reding Quiñones is an American lawyer serving as the United States Attorney for the District of Southern Florida since 2025.
Early life, education, and military service
Reding Quiñones is the son of a Cuban political refugee. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Florida and his Juris Doctor degree from the Florida International University College of Law in 2008.Reding Quiñones is a veteran of the U.S. military, having served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. His military roles included cavalry scout, infantry officer, logistics officer, and judge advocate. Reding Quiñones is a reserve lieutenant colonel.
Career
Reding Quiñones served as a state court trial judge in Miami-Dade County. Prior to serving as a judge, he was a national security official at the Department of Justice and a federal prosecutor.U.S. Attorney for the District of Southern Florida
On March 10, 2025, Reding Quiñones was nominated by President Donald Trump to be the United States Attorney for the District of Southern Florida. He was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on August 2, 2025, and sworn into office on August 13, 2025.On November 9, The New York Times described Quiñones as issuing over two dozen subpoenas of vocal Trump critics or individuals alleged to be involved in an unproven "deep state" against him as part of the administration's larger efforts to target political opponents.
