Jagtial district


Jagtial district is a district located in the northern region of the Indian state of Telangana. Its administrative headquarters is the city of Jagtial. The district shares boundaries with Nirmal, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Sircilla and Nizamabad districts. it is Carved out from the former Karimnagar district.

Geography

The district is spread over an area of. Jagtial district shares it boundaries with Nirmal district and Mancherial district on North and North East respectively, it is bounded on South and South West by Karimnagar district and Peddapalli district respectively and on the West by Nizamabad district

Demographics

, the district has a population of 985,417, of which 221,336 live in urban areas. Jagtial district has a sex ratio of 1036 females per 1000 males and a literacy rate of 60.26%. 93,272 were under 10 years of age. Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes comprised 164,596 and 23,351 of the population, respectively.
At the 2011 census, 90.90% of the population spoke Telugu, 7.17% Urdu and 0.91% Lambadi as their first language.
