It's Murder!


It's Murder! is a 1979 amateur Super 8 crime comedy film directed by Sam Raimi while he was a student at Wylie E. Groves High School and Michigan State University. It was co-written and produced by Raimi and Scott Spiegel, and stars both Raimi and Spiegel alongside their frequent collaborator Bruce Campbell. Raimi's first feature-length film, it was screened publicly at both Groves High School and MSU, but was never distributed commercially.

Plot

The film tells the story of a family whose uncle is murdered. The son gets everything because he is in the will. A detective is trying to find out who murdered the uncle while avoiding ending up dead as well.

Raimi, Spiegel, Campbell and company all started making films in high school and began making It's Murder! before they graduated, working with Raimi's brother's roommate, Robert Tapert. It was shot on Super 8 film with a budget of $2,000.
