1870 Shushtar Massacre	1870	Shushtar	Unknown, possibly hundreds or thousands	Governor of Khuzestan	Much of the local Mandaean community of Shushtar was killed at the Borj-e-Ayar dam against the will of Naser al-Din Shah Qajar. The site of this killing is often locally referred to as "band-i subbī kosh" for this reason. By 1877, only two Mandaean families remained in Shushtar.
