Ilex obcordata
Ilex obcordata is a species of holly in the family Aquifoliaceae. It is native to the Greater Antilles – Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico.
There are two accepted varieties:
- Ilex obcordata var. obcordata – Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico
- Ilex obcordata var. vaccinioides – Jamaica and Puerto Rico
There are only 150 individuals remaining in the Luquillo Mountains of Puerto Rico, restricted to Toro Negro State Forest.
As Ilex sintenisii It is assessed as endangered by the IUCN Red List, and a federally listed endangered species of the United States.
