Homelessness Act 2002
The Homelessness Act 2002 is an Act of the Parliament of [the United Kingdom].
Provisions
The act requires a multi-agency approach to the prevention of homelesness.The act amended the Housing Act 1996 and sets out the duties owed by local housing authorities to someone who is homeless or threatened with homelessness.
The act requires local authorities to expand their categories of homeless groups in priority need of housing to include:
- 16 and 17-year-olds,
- young people leaving care, people
- forced to flee their home because of domestic, racial and other
- forms of violence, and individuals leaving institutions
