Holosun

Holosun '昊阳' is a Chinese manufacturer of small arms accessories and related goods with a sales office based in California.

History

Holosun was established by Sun Jianhua, the CEO of Xi'an Huanic Corporation, in 2011 in Florida as a company called Surpass Technology, INC, and moved to California in 2013. The Huanic used the name Holosun to cover its Chinese origin and claim they have an R&D office in California, while Holosun does not hold any patent but the parent company, Huanic Corporation is the assignee of their patent. The controversy of Holosun is due to Huanic having received multiple Chinese PLA government contracts for military optics. At the government level, foreign-owned companies with ties to the Chinese Armed Services should be banned from operating in the United States.
Their initial focus was on budget-priced weapon optics. Although they faced general skepticism, their low price point gained them market share. The quality of Holosun products began subpar. However, the quality improved significantly through the 2010s, which allowed them to rival more established manufacturers.
A feature of Holosun products is “shake-awake:” a motion sensor in the optic will power on the optic when it senses motion, and power down when it does not sense motion for an extended period of time.
