Hollis first appeared on the 1960 U.S. Census as an unincorporated community. It did not appear again until 1990, when it was made a census-designated place.As of the census of 2000, there were 139 people, 55 households, and 38 families residing in the CDP. The population density was. There were 95 housing units at an average density of. The racial makeup of the CDP was 89.93% White, 5.04% Native American, 0.72% Asian, and 4.32% from two or more races. 2.16% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 55 households, out of which 36.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.0% were married couples living together, 3.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.9% were non-families. 23.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 3.00.
