Henry Grover
Henry Cushing Grover, usually known as Hank Grover, was an American politician from the U.S. state of Texas best known for his relatively narrow defeat in the 1972 Texas gubernatorial election. If elected, Grover would have been the first Republican and Catholic governor. He died on November 28, 2005, aged 78.
Early life
Grover was born on April 1, 1927, in Corpus Christi. He attended St. Thomas High School in Houston. Grover received his bachelor's degree from Saint Thomas University and his master's degree from the University of Houston. Master of Arts degree in the same subjects from the University of Houston. His master's thesis was on Colonel Edward M. House of Houston, a Democrat active in the campaign to elect Woodrow Wilson as the U.S. President.He was a high school history teacher at Lamar High School when he was elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 1960.
