Greenacres is a census-designated place in Kern County, California. It is located west of Bakersfield, at an elevation of. The population was 5,496 at the 2020 census.

Demographics

Greenacres first appeared as an unincorporated place in the 1970 U.S. census; and as a census designated place in the 1980 U.S. census. The CDP was deleted prior to the 2000 U.S. census after being partly annexed to the city of Bakersfield. The remaining area was again designated as census designated place in the 2010 U.S. census.

2020 census

The 2020 United States census reported that Greenacres had a population of 5,496. The population density was. The racial makeup of Greenacres was 68.3% White, 1.5% African American, 1.8% Native American, 2.0% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 11.9% from other races, and 14.4% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 26.7% of the population.
The census reported that 99.8% of the population lived in households, 11 people lived in non-institutionalized group quarters, and no one was institutionalized.
There were 1,963 households, out of which 33.9% included children under the age of 18, 51.7% were married-couple households, 6.7% were cohabiting couple households, 23.1% had a female householder with no partner present, and 18.5% had a male householder with no partner present. 22.5% of households were one person, and 10.9% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.79. There were 1,435 families.
The age distribution was 23.7% under the age of 18, 7.9% aged 18 to 24, 25.0% aged 25 to 44, 25.8% aged 45 to 64, and 17.6% who were 65years of age or older. The median age was 39.4years. For every 100 females, there were 101.1 males.
There were 2,040 housing units at an average density of, of which 1,963 were occupied. Of these, 77.4% were owner-occupied, and 22.6% were occupied by renters.
