General Serrador Bridge

History
The bridge was designed in 1942, and was ordered by the Captain General of the Canary Islands, Ricardo Serrador Santés. Serrador died in 1943, and the bridge was named after him after it was completed under his successor, Francisco García-Escámez. Construction by Entrecanales y Távora started on 5 August 1942, and was formally completed on 3 January 1944, after the bridge's opening in 1943. The bridge was designed by José Blasco Robles. It was renovated in 2004, at the cost of €1.7 million, but by 2010 it was starting to decay again, with cracks in tiles caused by oxidised metal nails.
