Main Political Directorate of the Soviet Army and Soviet Navy
The Main Political Directorate of the Soviet Army and Soviet Navy was the central military-political organ of administration in the Soviet Armed Forces in 1919 through 1991 and controlled by the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
The directorate was created at the 7th [Congress of the Russian Communist Party ] on the order of the Republic's Revolutionary Military Council No.674 of 18 April 1919 to implement political control in the Red Army and Fleet.
