Fortress Square

Fortress Square is a five-storey shopping mall and an entertainment complex located in Lahore Cantonment, Punjab, west of Fortress [Stadium (Lahore)|Fortress Cricket Stadium]. It was constructed in 2014 by DUPAK Pakistan Developers. The mall houses over 100 local and international stores.

History

In 2014, a petition in the Lahore High Court alleged that the mall was constructed on government-owned land which previously housed the 114 Brigade headquarters of the Pakistan Army. The petitioner claimed that the land, classified as Class-AI and reserved for military purposes, had been leased by Fortress Stadium Management to DUPAK Pakistan Developers on October 27, 2007, for 33 years without federal government approval.
Fortress Stadium Management's counsel maintained that it was part of the army and therefore no petition against it was admissible.
