West Traverse Township, Michigan

West Traverse Township is a civil township of Emmet [County, Michigan|Emmet County] in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,768 at the 2020 [United States census|2020 census].

Communities

Harbor Point is an unincorporated community in a noncontiguous part of the township on a peninsula south of Harbor Springs at. The historic Little Traverse Lighthouse is located at the tip of the Harbor Point peninsula. It was begun as a resort originally called Lansing Resort in 1878.

Geography

According to the United [States Census Bureau], the township has a total area of, of which is land and is water. The city of Harbor [Springs, Michigan|Harbor Springs] is located south of the township.
