Farmington, California


Farmington is a census-designated place in San Joaquin County, California. The population was 220 at the 2020 census, up from 207 at the 2010 census.

History

Farmington was so named to distinguish its agricultural setting from the nearby mining regions.

Farmington is located at .
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of, all of it land. Barren, low hills lie to the immediate east of the town, and farther east are the Sierra Nevada mountains. Stockton East Creek flows along the southern border of Farmington, paralleling Highway 4 for a short distance. The creek and many other places nearby were used as locations in the 1958 film The Big Country, as was scenes for the movie, Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry.

2020

The 2020 United States census reported that Farmington had a population of 220. The population density was. The ethnic makeup of Farmington was 125 Non-Hispanic white, 9 from two or more races, and 86 Hispanic or Latino.
The whole population lived in households. There were 89 households, out of which 30 had children under the age of 18 living in them, 41 were married-couple households, 8 were cohabiting couple households, 24 had a female householder with no partner present, and 16 had a male householder with no partner present. 23 households were one person, and 9 were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.47. There were 61 families.
The age distribution was 61 people under the age of 18, 16 people aged 18 to 24, 55 people aged 25 to 44, 44 people aged 45 to 64, and 44 people who were 65years of age or older. The median age was 38.0years. For every 100 females, there were 109.5 males.

There were 79 households, out of which 26 had children under the age of 18 living in them, 46 were opposite-sex married couples living together, 5 had a female householder with no husband present, 6 had a male householder with no wife present. There were 6 unmarried opposite-sex partnerships, and 0 same-sex married couples or partnerships. 14 households were made up of individuals, and 7 had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.62. There were 57 families ; the average family size was 2.98.
