Emil Knoevenagel

Heinrich Emil Albert Knoevenagel was the German chemist who established the Knoevenagel condensation reaction. The Knoevenagel condensation reaction of carbonyl compounds with active methylene compounds is a classic method for the preparation of conjugated alkenes, which are very valuable synthetic intermediates.
