Eaton Bank Academy


Eaton Bank Academy is a co-educational secondary school with academy status located in the town of Congleton in Cheshire, England.

History

Schools of various forms have existed on the site since 1965.

Dane Valley County High School

"Dane Valley County High School" opened in 1965 as a girls secondary school until 1979 when the school became coeducational.

Dane Valley High School

In 1983 a group of pupils went to study at the Herndon International School in the United States of America, the trip was organised following an earlier trip to the United States of America by Dane Valley High School Head Teacher Nigel Briers.
In 1985 Dane Valley High School was extended and refurbished, the extension and refurbishment of the school cost £300,000.
On 13 June 1998 pupil Claire Heart was murdered, in 1999 Craig Smith was found guilty of her murder and was sentenced to life in prison.
As of 1999 its enrolement was 489. The school closed on 31 August 2000 and was replaced on the same site by Eaton Bank School on 7 September 2000.

Eaton Bank School

In 2000 the school was expanded and renamed as part of a broader reorganization of 3 local schools, the others being Heathfield and Westlands High School.

Eaton Bank Academy

The school gained academy status in September 2012.
In 2013 Eaton Bank Academy announced plans for a multi-purpose sports centre, the sports centre was planned to cost £3 Million. The plans were announced as part of "Congleton's attempt to secure it's Olympic legacy".
In 2019 ministerial approval was given for Eaton Bank Academy to join Fallibroome Trust.

Ofsted

In an Ofsted inspection in 2015 the report classified the school as 'Good with outstanding features'. The report rated both 'leadership and management' and student 'behaviour and welfare' as Outstanding. The inspectors reported; "There is an exceptional ethos and climate for learning within the school".
