Eastern Shore District
The Eastern Shore District is a high school athletic conference that competes in Class 1, Region A of the Virginia [High School League]. It includes all public high schools located on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, encompassing Accomack County and Northampton County. Due to the geographic isolation of the region—bounded by the Chesapeake Bay to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east—it is the only VHSL district located entirely on the Delmarva Peninsula.
Geography and Classification
The district consists of small rural schools, all of which currently compete in VHSL Class 1, the smallest classification by enrollment.
