Craspedid genera

''Codonosiga''

''Proterospongia''

''Salpingoeca''

Salpingoeca rosetta has been named for the rosette-shaped colonies formed by its cells. Recent studies show a bacterial sulfonolipid, called rosette inducing factor produced by Algoriphagus machipongonensis triggers colony formation in S. rosetta.
