Colburn, Indiana


Colburn is a small unincorporated census-designated place in northeastern Tippecanoe County, Indiana|Washington Township], Tippecanoe [County, Indiana|Tippecanoe County], in the U.S. state of Indiana.
It is part of the Lafayette, Indiana Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Colburn was originally called Chapmanville.
A post office was established at Colburn in 1860, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1988.

Colburn is located in Washington Township, [Tippecanoe County, Indiana|Washington Township]. Nearby communities include Lafayette, Delphi, Buck Creek and Americus.

Education

It is in the Tippecanoe [School Corporation]. Residents are zoned to Hershey Elementary School, East Tipp Middle School, and William Henry [Harrison High School (Tippecano, Indiana)|William Henry Harrison High School].
