Cobblestones Museum
Cobblestones is a regional museum and heritage village in Greytown, New Zealand. The museum is centred around the original historic Hastwell stables and existing cobblestones used by stage coaches travelling between Masterton and Wellington. The museum contains six Category 2 Heritage NZ listed buildings, these include:
- a colonial cottage,
- Wairarapa's first Public Hospital in Greytown,
- Wairarapa's first Methodist church,
- the single-teacher Mangapakeha country school building which opened in 1902
- The Hastwell Stables. and
- the Donald Woolshed, Wairarapa's first purpose built woolshed.
Exhibition Centre
The Exhibition Centre features Wairarapa heritage stories, objects, photos and machinery. Finished in November 2014 after many years of fundraising it also holds the collection room which curates objects within the collection.A major new commemorative exhibition looking back on 80 years since the end of World War 2 is being planned for 2025. This will focus on the impact of the war on Greytown and the surrounding region from the perspective of servicemen, and commemorate the lives of local soldiers who did not return.
