China Law Society


The China Law Society is the official people's organization of Chinese legal research and academic professionals. It was established in 1982 and has sub-institutions of different fields of law, such as jurisprudence, constitutional law, civil law, criminal law, etc.

History

The Chinese Society of Political Science and Law was established in July 1982. Yang Xiufeng was elected as Honorary President, while Wu Xinyu was elected as president. The China Law Society encompasses research societies focused on jurisprudence, constitutional law, administrative law, civil law, commercial law, economic law, criminal law, procedural law, comparative law, and environmental resources law.
In November 2013, the 7th National Congress of the China Law Society commenced with the presence of Party and State leaders, including Xi Jinping, Chinese Communist Party and President of China; Zhang Dejiang, Chairman of the National People's Congress; and Liu Yunshan, Secretary of the Central Committee Secretariat. Wang Lequan, the former deputy secretary of the Central Political and Law Commission, has been chosen president of the China Law Society.
The eighth national conference of the China Law Society convened in March 2019. Wang Chen, the vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, has been chosen President of the China Law Society. In 2015, the China Law Society established the Leading Group for Drafting Civil Code, led by society vice president Zhang Mingqi.
