Cayara DistrictCayara District is one of twelve districts of the province Víctor Fajardo in Peru.Ethnic groupsThe people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population learnt to speak in childhood, 10.73% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language.HistoryIn 1988, during Peru's internal conflict, the military killed 39 residents of the district in the Cayara massacre.
