Bulnes, Chile


Bulnes is a Chilean city and commune in Diguillín Province, Ñuble Region.

Demographics

According to the 2002 census of the National Statistics Institute, Bulnes spans an area of and has 20,595 inhabitants. Of these, 12,514 lived in urban areas and 8,081 in rural areas. Between the 1992 and 2002 censuses, the population grew by 4.5%.

Administration

As a commune, Bulnes is a third-level administrative division of Chile administered by a municipal council, headed by an alcalde who is directly elected every four years. The 2008-2012 alcalde is Rodrigo De La Puente Acuña. The municipal council has the following members:
Within the electoral divisions of Chile, Bulnes is represented in the Chamber of Deputies by Jorge Sabag and Frank Sauerbaum as part of the 42nd electoral district, together with San Fabián, Ñiquén, San Carlos, San Nicolás, Ninhue, Quirihue, Cobquecura, Treguaco, Portezuelo, Coelemu, Ránquil, Quillón, Cabrero and Yumbel. The commune is represented in the Senate by Alejandro Navarro Brain and Hosain Sabag Castillo as part of the 12th senatorial constituency.
