Losses

• – severed legal ties with Britain, but retained Elizabeth II as head of state.
• – post-coup end of dominion status accepted on 15 October. Elizabeth II remained traditional Paramount Chief until 2012, when the informal links with the British monarchy have been terminated.
• – court of final appeal transferred from the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council to the Supreme Court of New Zealand, which was created in 2004.
