Bennet Birnie Rae


Bennet Birnie Rae FRSE was a 20th century marine zoologist specialising in the diet of fish.

Early life and career

He was born in Aberdeenshire in 1906 into a family of six children, including William Lorimer Rae the son of Christian and John Rae.
In 1933, he began working for the Fishery Board for Scotland.
He rose to be Assistant Director of the Marine Laboratory at Aberdeen.

Family

He married Sophia Hutchison Kennedy around 1935.
