Belvision Studios
Belvision Studios also known as Belvision is a Belgian audiovisuel production company and animation studio that was founded in 1954 by Raymond Leblanc who previously founded publishing company Le Lombard that is currently owned by Média-Participations through its Belgian publishing company Dupuis. Although the studio is best known for producing animated films and animated television series based on Franco-Belgian comics series such as Tintin, Asterix and Lucky Luke, they also develop live-action film & television series productions.
History
Near the end of 1970s, Belvision decided to abandon their production of feature animated films in exchange for devoting to produce commercials and pilots for its television series.Eventually in 1986, it was announced that Belgian publishing house and former rival of Lablanc's French publishing house Le Lombard which is called Dupuis had acquired animation production studio Belvision and had it restructured as Dupuis' new animation production studio under them.
By June 2004, Belvision and its Belgian parent & publishing company Dupuis had been acquired French media publishing & entertainment company Média-Participations who also owns French publishing house Dargaud and Dupuis's former rival publisher Le Lombard for €300 million, effectively giving Média-Participations a Belgian animation production studio and reuniting Belvision alongside its parent company Dupuis with Lablanc's former publishing house and rival French publishing company Le Lombard.
