Arthur Vickers (VC)
Arthur Vickers VC was an English soldier and a recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. He was also awarded the French Croix de Guerre.
Details
Vickers was 33 years old, and a private in the 2nd Battalion, The Royal Warwickshire Regiment, British Army during the First World War when the deed took place for which he was awarded the VC. The citation stated:He received his medal from George V at Buckingham Palace in 1916.
