Are positive illusions necessary for self-esteem: a research note is a scholarly work, published in 1992 in ''Personality and Individual Differences''. The main subjects of the publication include social psychology, optimism, social exclusion, time perception, illusion, self-esteem, psychology, and cognitive psychology. The study, using 114 university students, suggested that for certain individuals low use of positive illusions can also be associated with high self-esteem and psychological adjustment.
