Aleksandr Shelenkov


Aleksandr Vladimirovich Shelenkov was a Soviet cinematographer. He was awarded the titles of Honoured Artist of the Latvian SSR and Honored Artist of the RSFSR. He was also a laureate of four State Stalin Prizes.

Life

He was born in the village of Zamesh'e and in 1928 graduated from the cinematography department of the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company. From 1927 onwards he worked as an assistant cameraman at the Mezhrabpomfilm studio. From 1944 onwards he worked with his wife, cinematographer Yolanda Chen - they are both buried at the Kuntsevo Cemetery in Moscow.
