Albert E. Fernald


Albert E. Fernald was an American soldier who fought in the American Civil War. Fernald received the United States' highest award for bravery during combat, the Medal of Honor, for his action during the Battle of Five Forks in Virginia on April 1, 1865. He was honored with the award on May 10, 1865.

Biography

Fernald was born in Winterport, Maine, on May 13, 1838. He enlisted into the 20th Maine Infantry. He died on December 3, 1908, and his remains are interred at Oak Hill Cemetery in Maine.
