Al Futaisi


Al Futaisi is an island about southwest of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates with a size of approximately.
The largest part of the island, which is long and wide, is a wildlife sanctuary. There is a tourist ecotourism resort on the island. Animals such as Dugong, Osprey, lizards and Gazelles exist on the island.

History

In 2002, archaeologists discovered 22 ancient water catchments on the island. The catchements showed a survival technique used in the region previously to collect water. A total of 38 archaeological sites have been discovered on Futaisi Island.

Transportation

Futaisi is not connected to the mainland by a bridge. It has a small airport and a boat dock.
