A Reconsideration of the Madaba Map is a scholarly work, published in 2018 in ''Gesta''. The main subjects of the publication include history, neontology, remote sensing in archaeology, mosaic, art, Byzantine architecture, archaeology, glossary of archaeology, ancient history, ancient Near East, pilgrimage, and geography. Previous analyses of the mosaic have been based on two assumptions: that it was designed for an early Byzantine church and that this supposed church was roughly similar in form to the nineteenth-century church that now houses the mosaic.
