52nd Reconnaissance Battalion (Ukraine)
The 52nd Separate Reconnaissance Battalion is a battalion of the Ukrainian ground forces acting as an independent unit, formerly subordinated to the 68th Jaeger Brigade. It has seen combat during the Russo-Ukrainian war, initially as a rifle battalion and has been performing reconnaissance and combat operations throughout the entire front. It was established in June 2022.
History
The battalion was established in June 2022 and was mainly composed of volunteers from the Carpathian region who joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In the summer of 2022, it was deployed along the Ukraine-Belarus border and later saw combat during the Battle of Vuhledar, Battle of Pavlivka and the Battle of Avdiivka as part of the 68th Jaeger Brigade.On 21 December 2022, two soldiers of the battalion were killed in action in Pavlivka.
On 16 January 2023, two soldiers of the battalion were killed in action in Prechystivka. On 5 February 2023, a soldier of the battalion was killed in action in Prechystivka. On 8 February 2023, a soldier of the battalion was killed in action in Prechystivka. On 21 February 2023, two soldiers of the battalion were killed in Pavlivka. On 3 March 2023, a soldier of the battalion was killed in Donetsk Oblast. On 6 November 2023, a soldier of the battalion was killed in action in Novokalynove. On 11 November 2023, a soldier of the battalion was killed in Vozdvyzhenka. In December 2023, the battalion fighters rescued a man trapped under the rubble of a house near Avdiivka for six days. On 25 December 2023, a soldier of the battalion was killed in Donetsk Oblast.
On 6 February 2024, a soldier of the battalion was killed in action in Donetsk Oblast. On 29 February 2024, three soldiers of the battalion were killed, one in Terny and two in Lyman. On 3 March 2024, a soldier of the battalion was killed in Lyman. On 5 March 2024, a soldier of the battalion was killed in Terny and another in Dibrova. On 25 March 2024, a soldier of the battalion was killed in Terny and another was killed there, the next day. On 28 March 2024, a soldier of the battalion was killed in Terny. On 7 April 2024, it stopped a massive Russian assault inflicting casualties. On 8 June 2024, a soldier of the battalion was killed in action in Drobysheve. On 24 September 2024, a soldier of the battalion was killed in Torske.
On 25 February 2025, a soldier of the battalion was killed in Torske. On 30 March 2025, a soldier of the battalion was killed in Torske. On 15 April 2025, a soldier of the battalion was killed in action in Torske. On 26 May 2025, a soldier of the battalion was killed in action in Torske. In May 2025, it received six quadcopters from the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Military Administration.
